With a career in litigation graphics spanning more than 22 years, 16 of which have been as an Art Director, Diane Suzuki has worked for the nation’s most influential attorneys and has created presentations for such significant trials as the John Doe vs. Unocal human rights case, the U.S. vs. Microsoft anti-trust case and the O.J. Simpson criminal and civil trials.
Diane entered the field of courtroom graphics in 1983 as a forensic medical illustrator and shifted to corporate litigation in 1986, art directing graphics for Dow Chemical, Intel, Disney and other Fortune 500 companies. As a Graphic Designer at Litigation Sciences, Inc. (six years) and Art Director at DecisionQuest (six years), she amassed a track record that covers every case type and all stages of litigation, producing static and interactive graphics, video and animation for nearly 500 trials.
Diane’s sophisticated design aesthetic and her strategic approach to courtroom presentations lies in her academic background in Painting (B.F.A., California State University, Long Beach; M.F.A., The Claremont Graduate School) and Animation/Filmmaking (M.F.A., USC School of Cinema & Television [pending]).
Widely recognized for her creativity and scholarship, Diane was the recipient of the Claremont Graduate School’s Humanities Fellowship and Turnercoburn Scholarship, the USC Hollywood Foreign Press Scholarship and the USC Harold Lloyd Scholarship, among others. She was awarded an Artist-in-Residency grant by the Institute of Advanced Media Arts & Sciences (Gifu, Japan) in 2001, has been a visiting Lecturer at UC, Santa Barbara (Creative Studies Department, 2001) and a graduate advisor at Art Center College of Design (Fine Art Photography, 1996). Her art has been exhibited throughout the United States and Japan at such notable museums as the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, MN and the Barnsdall Municipal Art Gallery in Los Angeles and stories have been written about her in Art Week, LA Weekly and Sculpture Magazine.
In legal circles, Diane’s work is equally well known. It consistently brings rave reviews from judges, clients and opposing counsel alike. As one opponent recently lamented after losing badly to our client in court, “Those were the best legal graphics I’ve ever seen!”
Diane’s company, Convergence Graphics, Inc., has been a partner to The Strategic Image since TSI’s inception in 2003.
